(no subject)  
Worked far longer than I was supposed to. Have homework I am supposed to be doing. Trying to finish je_hols. Really want to sleep! But mostly the important thing about today is-

-yeah, we finally wrote more to the Lost, if you haven't already seen the 500 posts on LJ today. I'm not apologizing because this shit is awesome, and I am very proud and excited, and I mean come on the website layout is bad-fucking-ass so I'm showing this off. :)

Long Weekend Update  
  • I am currently (if slowly) defeating a massive group project, due tomorrow in both presentation and report form. Please note the use of the singular pronoun there: yes, it is a group project, but I'm sitting on most of the work myself right now (as always) (as expected)

  • Am not thinking about finals, which are next week. This project has been enough work. Will freak out on Tuesday, after presentation!

  • I am really ready to be done with this semester.

  • Current obsession: Pandora radio. I have the app on my Blackberry now and it's addicting: I can listen in the car. I've created a ton of channels so far and am switching through them like ADD. Seriously addicting. There is nothing like writing a paper on fuel cell polymer membranes while grooving to dance music.

  • Attempting white chili! :)

  • Am going to have to haul ass to catch up on word count for [info]getyourwordsout.

  • Am really looking forward to FFIV: The After Years (!!!!!!!!!) (shut up guys)

  • Am really ready to be done with this semester.

  • Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving! Mine was quiet and nice. And brought pie. The long weekend involved a little more work (housework and schoolwork) than I might have liked.

  • Am slowly realizing that I need to start taking my own advice. When I tell people "Enjoy having the break!" or "Slow down!" or "You don't have to be working!" I think I am talking to myself. I need a break?

  • Does anyone else feel like November just flew by??

  • ...back to this stupid project. XD

Jerusalem  
I know that you all want to see pictures from the pilot shoot for A GAME OF THRONES, but alas, I can't show you the sets, the actors in costume, or any of that good stuff.

Which is not to say that I can't show you a few other things from my recent trip.

Jerusalem in Morocco, f'rinstance.

Here are some shots of the huge city walls and siege machinery that Ridley Scott built for KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, outside the city of Ouarzazate in Morocco. We did shoot some scenes here... but inside, in a court redressed for our purposes.





That's my assistant Ty perched on the battering ram, which was full sized, made of real wood, and appeared to be fully functional. Ditto the siege towers and trebuchets Ridley left.

The interior courtyards were equally impressive (alas, I can't show you the one we redressed and actually used).





I worked in Hollywood for a decade back in my checkered past, and these are the most impressive sets I've ever seen. Hell, Scott's fake castle beats about eighty per cent of the real castles I've seen, and I've visited a LOT of castles.

I'm obviously going to have to put a city under siege sometime soon, so we can go back to Morocco and play with all these cool toys one of these days.

WE ARE STILL ON THIS  
Stiiiiiilll worrrrrking on New Moooooon. To that end, does anyone have a still/screencap of that really ridiculous, blatant fanservice moment when Jacob takes off his shirt to, like, dab at Bella's head? I mean the exact moment when he takes it off, you know the shot. It's an illustrated Fifteen Minutes, and the more on-the-nose the picture is, the better the punchline will work, and I only have shots from later in the scene. I just really don't want to Google for it, you know? The internets scare me.

(I'm wrestling with the last few problem scenes and trying to go back and polish the finished ones while I rack my brain for something interesting. It's running long--well, by "long" I mean "the standard 5000 words that most of the older ones are," but Twilight has kind of taken the place of the Harry Potter fandom in terms of OMG YOU LEFT OUT MY FAVORITE PARRRRRRT complaints. Within the stuff I felt compelled to include, I'm trying to tighten as much as possible. Also, the coding on this one has been a bitch because I tried to get fancy with a text effect. Fnarr.)

Jets  
Life is... well, not magical, but tolerable today.

Jake Delhomme threw more interceptions than Mark Sanchez today, so the Jets beat the Panthers and still have a pulse. A very faint one, to be sure, but still a pulse.

Revis was amazing, completely shutting down Steve Smith.

Obviously my teams can only play well when I am here watching. I can never leave home again.

UFO Ending?  
This is an idea I had a few weeks ago that wouldn't leave me alone. The Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged cast singing Come Sail Away by Styx. It was originally just going to be Yami singing, but I expanded it and it kinda got out of control. Hell, most of the latter section is completely ad-libbed while I was recording.



Word of warning - it gets pretty loud around halfway through.

Maybe now my mind will allow me to concentrate on new episodes?

[Recommendation] Final Fantasy IV  
In Darkness and Regret, by [info - personal] rushlight75. Kain/Cecil, worksafe. Author's summary: Being honest with yourself is the first step toward true happiness, but that doesn't necessarily mean you can get there from here.

Okay. So I'm not particularly a Kain/Cecil person. I'm not opposed, I'm just not as excited by it as I am by Edge/Rydia or Kain->Rosa, or Kain/Valvalicia.

I really loved this fic. It was actually a little bit disconcerting, because it felt a lot like reading something I had written. There's a really good understanding of the things that drive Kain to do what he does, and the story flows beautifully. I love the characters' voices, and one of the things that particularly stood out to me was the contradictory nature of Kain's feelings toward Golbez.

In a word, hello shiny.

BOOYA.

Let's review:

--Started 3 days late due to flu of death
--Finished 2 days early
--Actually don't hate this novel
--Am probably within 7K words of the actual end of the story
--Realized what the sequel is a week ago
--In love with my characters and willing to watch them snark forever

Overall? I think I did good.

Net result: I am about 4K behind on [info]getyourwordsout, which I can probably make up with Yuletide, finishing the NaNo, and finishing the Yuna fic (I am seriously completing that one this year. SERIOUSLY.)

Not bad, self.

Hey guys! :D So the idea of a new theme is under way. However, it'd still be best to take a majority vote to see which theme YOU would like to see next. Personally, the only problem I see with the "which persona would you summon?" theme is that it'll take ages to get stamped, much like the "persona mirror" theme, because there are 249190238 persona. Don't let that stop you from voting though! XD

For those of you that may want to suggest a theme with the P3P characters, I think it'd be best if we wait until it gets released outside of Japan, since I'm sure there are quite a few people who don't really know the new P3P chars because they don't want to spoil it. (Even though there are only a handful.) If you guys really want such a theme go ahead and suggest it though. (: I just wanted to point that out;;

Also, even if we do have a majority number of votes... The new theme will NOT be unveiled until all unstamped applications have been stamped. With that said, please go vote for them if you can. Here's a handy list of apps that still require stamping:

P3 North American Artbook  
I've looked through the tags, but I can't quite find what I'm looking for so I figured I'd just ask!

Recently (as in, like, 10 minutes ago) I discovered that there was an English version of the P3 artbook; I looked through the tags and someone posted some scans here. The writing isn't that great, but because I love reading commentary on things I was wondering if anyone had the whole NA book scanned? Usually, I would just buy it myself but I can't find it anywhere, aha.

Does anyone know if the Japanese artbook has ever been fan-translated? It looks like it has a lot more commentary, and the contents just seem all-around better than the NA book.

Um, since I'm asking this I might as well ask for P4 as well? I'm not even sure if they released an NA artbook of that, but hey -- it's worth a shot.

Well, that was the tamest Black Friday ever.

And by ever, I mean in the history of me having to work a Black Friday. It was... well, it was like a normal weekend sale day. Except at five in the morning. The parking lot was full, but there was a decided lack of people milling about looking for parking. When I went to my car at 1:30, there were open spots. That's just not right.

Going to Best Buy later on was just a nightmare, though. I think they tossed a bunch of boxes on the floor, put a sign on them, and convinced people IT'S A SAAAAAALE. idek, guys. If the line wasn't at least two hours I would have tried to stock up on some dvds, but instead I just used their bathroom and left. The internet, man. The internet is my friend!

So how did everyone else fare?

And hell, how has everyone been (lolinternetfailgoodonekat)? Crazy stories y'all!

So early in the morning  
The new Made of Fail podcast is up, and it's something like my fifth appearance on the show--and this time we also have Rinna from Poufwa, the first podcast I ever did! Also, my sexy, sexy phlegm ("Yeah... I'm reporting live from my death bed..."), brought in loud and clear courtesy of my new headset. Topic: half New Moon and half Crazy Fans, with a substantial segment on the Dollhouse cancellation up front (aw, hell, I just heard myself cough in the background).

And now, I'm going back to bed.


ETA: OH BY THE WAY we totally discuss the Twilight porno that Dayna watched for us.

Life is meaningless and full of pain.

Suddenly it seems a thousand years ago when the G-Men were 5-0 and dominating. What the hell happened? Clearly I can't leave the country during football season. My teams just seem to fall apart without me.

basement cleaning day...  
I'm going through all my old photography and darkroom equipment, and I found some old portfolios. Man, I really am/was good at photography. It's kind of depressing that I haven't had a darkroom up in probably 3 years and I haven't taken 'serious' pictures in a really long while. I miss film; I took it more seriously.

I miss having time.

Daily Doodle: I wasn't expecting two serious drawings in a row. But I'm really pleased with this concept. Definitely needs some dark, moody colouring. I know there are some issues, but overall, for something done in one sitting, I am super pleased. Feedback super welcome!

[COMPLETED Fic] Implied "Shinji x Akihiko" Drug  
Author's Note: Please Read: This is a oneshot I wrote back in 2008 during my Persona 3 craze haha! This story is, technically, not yaoi. It has very subtle implied Shinji x Akihiko and it also shows Akihiko displaying some sexual feelings towards Mitsuru, however there is no kissing or sex scenes. Sit back, relax, and enjoy!
